Updated for 2018 with an awesome new Distressed Black Satin finish, the LTD Volsung is the Signature Series guitar from Lars Frederiksen of the iconic punk rock band Rancid. Based on the ESP Viper body style, the Volsung is even more streamlined, keeping the guitar’s light weight ideal for energy-filled live shows and long recording/writing/jamming sessions. Its three-piece thin U-shaped mahogany neck is exceptionally smooth and fast, and it features a set of Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups customized by Lars with double rows of pole pieces and a metal cover (that are only available on the Volsung). It also features set-neck construction for fast and smooth access to the highest frets, as well as an ebony 24-fret fingerboard with glow in the dot side markers, Gotoh tuners, and TonePros locking TOM bridge and tailpiece. The LTD Volsung also offers a unique three-control configuration, with individual knobs for each pickup’s volume plus a tone control.
SEYMOUR DUNCAN DISTORTION (SH-6N)
The Duncan Distortion neck pickup is specifically designed for use with the matching high output bridge version. It is hot enough to deliver smooth, fluid solo tones under high gain, while still producing bell-like clean tones. Pair with the Duncan Distortion bridge model for a killer high output setup.
SEYMOUR DUNCAN DISTORTION (SH-6B)
Launched in 1980, the Duncan Distortion is our original high output humbucker. We use a massive ceramic magnet and hot coil windings to deliver full-bodied rock and metal tones with powerful upper mids for extra cut and grind. It’s great for hard-hitting, crunchy rhythms, and the lead tones scream with wild harmonics. It also remains tight with low tunings. The matching Duncan Distortion neck pickup is the perfect partner for complementary lead and rhythm tones, or pair it with a Jazz neck model for a wider range of sounds.

Danish-American musician and songwriter Lars Frederiksen is a certified punk rock guitar hero. A key member of Bay Area punk legends Rancid, Lars has been heavily involved in the underground music scene since the mid ’80s. His new LTD signature model “Volsung” features a slim Viper body style, ebony fingerboard, and a set of customized 12-pole, covered, high-output Seymour Duncan pickups.
