ADAM JONES
Adam Jones, best known as the guitarist for the progressive metal band Tool. His innovative guitar work but also for his artistic contributions to the band’s visual elements. His complex, multi-layered guitar techniques and use of effects contribute significantly to Tool’s distinctive sound. Alongside his musical achievements, Jones, who has a background in visual arts, is responsible for much of Tool’s unique album artwork and surreal music video direction.
ANGUS YOUNG
Angus Young, the co-founder and lead guitarist of AC/DC. He is one of rock music’s most recognizable figures, famous for his energetic performances and schoolboy uniform stage attire. Young’s powerful guitar playing and signature duckwalk have become synonymous with AC/DC’s raw and electrifying sound. His influential riffs and solos, particularly in hits like “Back in Black” and “Highway to Hell,” have cemented his status as a guitar legend.
ALEX SKOLNICK
With versatile precision, guitar virtuoso Alex Skolnick can do it all. From metal to jazz, his superior playing has earned Alex a reputation as one of the most well-versed guitar players in the world. Whether he’s dominating stages with thrash metal godfathers Testament, or exploring new musical territories with his namesake jazz trio, Alex Skolnick continues to amaze crowds around the world with his intense and melodic playing style.
ACE FREHLEY
Ace Frehley, best known as the original lead guitarist and founding member of the iconic rock band KISS. He is celebrated for his melodic guitar solos and charismatic stage presence. Donning his “Spaceman” persona, Ace Frehley’s style and persona were integral to KISS’s identity and explosive live performances. Ace Frehley’s influential playing on classics like “Cold Gin” and “Shock Me” helped define the band’s sound during their 1970s heyday.
ALAN ASHBY
Alan Ashby, the rhythm guitarist for the metalcore band Of Mice & Men, has been a driving force behind the band’s powerful sound since joining in 2011. Known for his solid rhythm playing, Ashby’s guitar work is fundamental in crafting the band’s heavy, melodic blend of metal and hardcore. Ashby’s role in Of Mice & Men not only underscores his musical talents but also his integral contribution to the band’s ongoing success in the metalcore scene.
ALEXI LAIHO
Alexi “Wildchild” Laiho is a Finnish guitarist and the frontman of the influential metal band Children of Bodom. Known for his virtuosic guitar skills and distinctive voice. Alexi led the band to international fame with a unique blend of melodic death metal, power metal, and classical music influences. Alexi’s fast, technical playing and ability to craft catchy, complex solos were hallmarks of his style. Alexi Laiho passed away on December 29, 2020.
ANDY JAMES
One the fastest-rising modern day guitar heroes, Andy James’ phenomenal playing and online video lessons have influenced a new generation of guitarists. Making the most advanced lead techniques look easy at blaring speeds. No wonder Andy is one of the most popular online guitar teachers. The British guitarist joined Five Finger Death Punch as their lead guitarist in 2020. He also works on solo projects and with Sacred Mother Tongue and Wearing Scars.
ALEX WADE
Alex Wade is a founding member and lead guitarist of the American deathcore band Whitechapel. Known for his precise and heavy riffing, Wade has been instrumental in defining the band’s sound since its inception in 2006. His technical skill and ability to blend brutal breakdowns with melodic elements have helped Whitechapel stand out in the metal scene. Wade also plays a significant role in the songwriting and production processes of the band’s music.
ANDY TIMMONS
Andy Timmons is a celebrated guitarist known for his technical mastery and melodic play. As the former guitarist for the glam metal band Danger Danger, Andy Timmons gained fame and has since enjoyed a successful solo career. His work is characterized by its blend of rock, blues, and jazz influences, showcased in albums like “Ear X-tacy”. Beyond performing, Andy Timmons is also a respected educator, sharing his knowledge through clinics and instructional DVDs.
