Description
The LTD Viper-1000 Baritone Black Satin is part of the LTD Viper-1000 series. Guitars in the LTD 1000 Series are designed to offer the tone, feel, looks and quality that working professional musicians require in an instrument. With the Viper-1000 Baritone, you get the diabolical look of the asymmetrical double-cutaway body shape in a 27” baritone scale guitar, typically tuned a fourth below standard (B-E-A-D-F#-B) for extended low end range for modern rock and metal. It uses set-thru construction for easy access to the highest frets, with a mahogany body and three-piece mahogany neck. Its Macassar ebony fingerboard includes 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets and white pearloid ESP flag inlays, and white binding on the neck and headstock. Components on the Viper-1000 Baritone include a TonePros locking TOM bridge and tailpiece, LTD locking tuners, and a set of EMG 60TW-R (neck, splittable with push-pull control) and EMG 81 (bridge) pickups, offering a good variety of powerful, aggressive tones.
EMG 60TW-R
The 60TW-R is similar to the 60 but the split coil side is closer to the neck to capture the sweet spot Strat fans love. Featuring two pickups in one, the 60TW-R The 60 humbucker packs plenty of output with a balance of thick, boosted mids, big lows and singing highs. Featuring close aperture coils, similar to a mini-humbucker, this model produces rich harmonic overtones. Due to its ceramic magnets, the EMG 60 has a full treble response and loads of output great for distinct single-note solos. The 60 provides clarity and character to your guitar and works very well in the neck position.
The single coil mode, delivers the traditional Strat single coil sound: bright, airy, and chimey, and is very similar to the EMG S. In either mode, the clean sound is gorgeously pristine and has a lot of presence. Used equally in bridge and neck positions. Whether you are playing hard rock or jazz, you can get it all with this beautifully balanced and versatile pickup.
EMG 81
One of the most popular EMG’s, the 81 is the one that started a revolution. Utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the tone was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high end cut, and fluid sustain. Traditionally used in the bridge position of your guitar, this humbucking pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. When used in both neck and bridge positions the sound can only be described as blistering.
