Description
The LTD SCT-607 Baritone Black is the signature guitar for Stephen Carpenter. He is a founding member of California-based alt-metal gurus Deftones, Stephen Carpenter uses extended range guitars to push the limits of what was previously thought possible. Rich atmospheric textures, intricate riffs, and heavy breakdowns make Stephen’s playing remarkable, and his LTD SCT-607 Baritone Black is a guitar that will help anyone seeking to create their own unique and powerful sounds. While based on a traditional shape. The LTD SCT-607 Baritone Black is anything but old-school with its 7-string, 27” baritone scale and neck-thru-body construction.
It features a comfortable alder body and a three-piece maple neck, with an unadorned Macassar ebony fingerboard with 24 extra-jumbo frets. Its sound comes from a set of Stephen’s own signature Fishman Fluence pickups, with a ceramic pickup in the bridge and an alnico pickup in the middle position. These pickups have two voices, selectable with a push-pull volume control. Voice 1 (Modern Active) is Stephen’s midrange tweak on the original modern Fluence sound; Voice 2 (Modern Passive Attack) is Stephen’s custom voicing with some tone and gain tweaks to give it extra heat and edge. Other pro components on the SCT-607 Baritone include a TonePros locking TOM bridge with string-thru-body design for excellent sustain. Includes ESP deluxe hardshell case.
FISHMAN FLUENCE SRC SIGNATURE
Stephen is a player’s player, preferring to concentrate more on his music than equipment. “My signature pickup set has the full range of tones that you’re looking for. Voice 1 is similar to the tone of the original Modern Humbucker Fluence set. And for the second voice, I like a bit more heat, some hot stuff on it… more edge, so that’s in there too.”
Each Fishman Fluence pickup has two distinct and useful sounds on-board. These sounds start with the revolutionary Fluence Core, the heart of Fluence tone. From this Fluence Core we then create the classic timbres and tone — colors you expect from great guitar pickups — as well as some you’ve never expected.
“I was never the super-critical guy. I’m not much for specs, but I like clean, full sounding pickups. We put Fluence in and I jammed on them for 45 minutes and thought… ‘these things are freaking great…’ I didn’t want to stop playing.”
