Description

The JS20th celebrates the 20 year association and collaboration between Joe Satriani and Ibanez Guitars, it is obviously one on the most iconic JS guitars ever made because of the 3D inlaid Silver Surfer, the Marvel hero that starred on the cover of the legendary platinum CD Surfing With The Alien. Limited to 300 units worldwide, including 150 for the USA, this guitar is a masterpiece.

The body of the JS20th was made of basswood and the neck was maple with a rosewood fingerboard inlaid with abalone dots. This guitar also features Joe’s favourite tremolo the original Edge, the very thin 6105 frets that equips most of the JS Prestige guitars and chrome hardware. On the pickup side, it had the exact setup that Joe has been using for years, a DiMarzio PAF Pro for the neck and a FRED for the bridge, with a 3-way selector and of course a hi-pass filter that can be activated by pulling off the volume control. It preserved the high frequencies that naturally shade off when we turn down the volume. A coil-tap could also be activated by pulling off the tone control and it transforms the humbucker pickups into single-coil pickups!

The guitar was sold with a special red case with “JS 20th anniversary model Ibanez” written on it. The JS20th was a very successful model and became a key item in the JS collection, maybe the most precious with the JS2PRM.
